Happy Monday, everyone 

I truly hate having to ask for help, but unfortunately, this month is going to be a rough one for me and my household.

I have been fighting with SSI because they keep losing the paperwork from CJ’s school administration verifying that he is a senior in high school. Because of this, we did not receive his survivor benefits this month, and I’m not sure if they will be reinstated before the end of this month or if we will have to wait until next month.

I have also contacted DAC (Disabled Adult Child) services to begin the process of having CJ recognized as a disabled adult. This would allow me to serve as his payee and help manage his benefits and medical needs, as he has difficulty understanding and managing these responsibilities due to the mental health challenges he was diagnosed with at just 8 years old.

In our household, I am responsible for purchasing several everyday essentials, including laundry detergent, sponges, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher soap, and trash bags. Thankfully, we are stocked up on toilet paper and paper towels, but I was planning to purchase the other necessities this month. Unfortunately, with everything going on and CJ’s benefits being delayed, I’m unable to purchase these items right now. We are running extremely low and won’t have enough to get us through until next month.

I also added a jar opener for myself because I’m currently unable to use my dominant right hand to open jars and bottles. It’s something that would make everyday tasks a little easier for me.

It is never easy to ask for help, and I truly wish I didn’t have to. But sometimes life throws unexpected challenges our way, and we have to put our pride aside and reach out.
