My sweet nephew, Porter, is a wonderful human being, at the top of his class, compassionate and sensitive. Right now, his goal is to join the Airforce. He is 12. Things have been rather tough on him lately. He is being bullied in school, dealing with going from a boy to a man, plus his dad is ill with cancers.He has not been told just yet, but he knows his dad is really ill. This year, all he really wants for Christmas is Air Force clothes and cologne. He loves "smelling good," as he puts it. He also likes the Steelers and anything Nike. I made him a small wishlist. OF COURSE Porter is old enough to understand.. The cancer was only mentioned because it's just one more thing he and his family are dealing with. Mayo and doctors and so many others are alreadt involved. I only posted this wish because I thought it'd be nice for him to have a few more little things. This will likely be his dad's last Christmas.
Honestly, Porter's parents are better off contacting the local cancer society for help. They have more resources then any of us. And to be honest they need to have that conversation with Porter about the sickness. He's old enough to understand.
